With the opening of the taku in October 2001, the Excelsior Hotel Ernst set the first highlight in the gourmet world of Cologne.

The anniversary menu - the culinary highlight to the 15th birthday

For the 15th anniversary of the restaurant taku, Mirko Gaul created the ‘taku classics’ menu with some highlights of the last 15 years. To complete your culinary journey, each dish will be served with an characteristic beverage of each country, like matcha tea, Chinese beer and of course many variations of sake.

Matsuhisa meets taku - Peruvian & Japanese fusion cuisine

Nobuyuki 'Nobu' Matsuhisas concept of Peruvian and Japanese fusion cuisine is a worldwide success with many Hollywood stars visiting and appreciating his restaurants.

Since last year, one of his restaurants Matsuhisa is placed in the Mandarin Oriental in München, which is connected with the Excelsior Hotel Ernst through the Selection of German Luxury Hotels.

We are pleased to welcome the chefs from the Matsuhisa here in Cologne. The Matsuhisa chef de cuisine, Loris di Santo and the Michelin-star awarded chef Mirko Gaul from the taku created a menu that combines the flavors of South Amerika and East Asia. Of course, an interpretation of ‘ceviche’ should not be missed.

Vineyard Stigler at the taku

Wine dinner with vineyard Stigler

You could enjoy the wine from the vineyard Stigler in Hong Kong – because they also served there.

But it is easier to visit the Michelin-star awarded restaurant taku when the vintner couple from the village Ihringen in southern Gemany combines their excellent wine with the menu creations of the taku.

Besides the outstanding wine of Stigler’s wine cellar with their variety of flavors and the Asian interpretation of chef Mirko Gaul you can expect some entertaining story’s from Andreas Stigler.
