Petals on a petit four, the crunch and melt of a praline, the scent of tea and soft piano notes – all come together to create a very special experience. The delicate patisserie of our executive pastry chef Fabian Scheithe and the Excelsior Afternoon Tea are full of special touches that turn afternoons and early evenings into an experience of their own.

GOOSE AT THE EXCELSIOR
Finally it's that time again
From 1st November, the smell of Cologne's crispiest goose will once again permeate the kitchen of Excelsior Hotel Ernst. Head chef Joschua Tepner roasts the southern Oldenburg free-range goose until it is tender and juicy and has become wonderfully golden brown all over. At restaurant Hanse Stube, your goose will be carved for you with precision and skill right at the table. In addition, we serve classic potato dumplings, apple red cabbage, candied chestnuts and raisin braised apples.
We are happy to accept your reservation up to at least 24 hours before you wish to visit the restaurant. Please note that from Friday to Sunday evening reservations are only possible at 5 or 8:30 pm.

The Excelsior Hotel Ernst delivers the delicious roast including all classic side dishes to your desired address. In addition, you will receive the recipe for completion and a glass of goose rillette. Furthermore we are delighted to offer you a selection of starters, soups and desserts on request.
We accept your order on weekdays up to 48 hours before the desired delivery date. On public holidays we deliver your goose between 9 am and 6 pm. Deliveries outside of Cologne are possible on request. Of course, you can also pick up the goose yourself.

TRADITIONAL EXCELSIOR STOLLEN
FAMOUS for GENERATIONS
The wait is over! You can once again indulge in the Excelsior Christmas Stollen this year. To enjoy this traditional culinary delight, visit us at the hotel and buy the Stollen at the reception. Of course you will also find us again at the "Christmas market at Cologne Cathedral", where we offer other exquisite delicacies in addition to the Excelsior Stollen.
For generations, the Stollen recipe has been kept in the hotel safe. At the beginning of September, Georg Plesser, the Managing Director of the hotel, takes it out and hands it over to the hotel's pastry chef. To sample the first Stollen of the year, Charles Roulet, the hotel owner, personally travels to Cologne to issue the production order for the Stollen.
The patisserie crafts this exquisite pastry with great care, using only the finest ingredients. For each sold Stollen, the Excelsior Hotel Ernst donates one Euro to a charitable cause.

St. Nicholas' Day
For all ages
Every year, when St. Nicholas makes his way through Cologne, he looks forward to his visit to the Excelsior. In his bag, he carries small notes and surprises for the children, providing them with an entertaining afternoon. During this time, the little ones enjoy festive pastries, hot chocolate, and Christmas treats from the children's buffet. To commemorate the occasion, Santa Claus also gladly takes a photo with each child.
In the meantime, we warmly recommend our Afternoon Tea to all parents:

At the beginning of the festive Christmas season, the renowned Christmas market at the cathedral opens its gates, and the Excelsior Hotel Ernst will be represented with its own stand again this year. When the most impressive Christmas tree in Cologne lights up the backdrop of Cologne Cathedral, we cordially invite you to visit our stand and discover the traditional Excelsior Stollen. Experience the pleasure of the famous stollen, which is made with great devotion according to a traditional secret recipe. For each Stollen sold, the Excelsior Hotel Ernst donates one euro to a charity.

It’s no secret that Head Chef Joschua Tepner not only knows how to cook exceptionally well, but also how to throw a great party. He will once again prove it at his next kitchen party in the Hanse Stube and the grand halls of the Excelsior Hotel Ernst.
Tepner will be joined by fellow top chefs, selected winemakers, and live music by DJ Basti M. Together, they will create a great atmosphere and showcase their skills at various stations.
